ANZAC DAY 2022 – CHANGES IN ARRANGEMENTS
Otaki Anzac Day Dawn Service - Important notice about changes
The traditional Anzac Day Dawn Service will be held at 6 am on Monday the 25th of April 2022 at the Otaki Cenotaph and War Memorial.
A parade will assemble at 5.45 am at the Memorial Hall, Main street, and move off at 5.55 am to the Cenotaph.
The service will commence at 6.00 am at the cenotaph on Main street. The service will follow previous commemorations with some minor changes due to the change at short notice. Veterans, returned and service personnel, other organisations, and the public are invited to attend.
The commemoration will be followed by breakfast at the Otaki RSA in Raukawa street. The public may purchase breakfast at a cost of $10.00. Returned and service members and guests will have their breakfast provided.
Attendees are advised to practice safe distancing and the wearing of masks where this is possible. Entry to the RSA premises is limited to those who have proof of their covid vaccinations.
The Otaki RSA is grateful for the support of returned and service personnel, and the Otaki community, for their support and advice in allowing this change to be achieved at short notice.
The services at Waikanae and the Otaki Services Cemetery Sunset Retreat are not being held this year.
The National Service of Remembrance will be held at Pukeahu National Memorial in Wellington and broadcast on radio and television. Families will also be encouraged to “Stand at Dawn” outside their homes at 6am on Monday 25th April 2022 to commemorate ANZAC Day.
Other RSA’s are undertaking the same considerations for local 2022 ANZAC Day services.
A notice will be sent to all members by email.
